Surprise Advancements Say "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff"

Sweating is a natural, bodily function that usually occurs when in warm temperatures, exercising, or stressful situations.  This process is typically good for the body, helping it stay cool when it becomes overheated.  However, sweating too much can be detrimental to your health and can cause various long term risks.

One of the most prominent medical conditions associated with sweating is hyperhidrosis.  Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition where someone sweats excessively and randomly, usually without any trigger.  This is believed to be caused from overactive sweat glands, which can lead to significant discomfort, physically and emotionally.  To counteract this condition there are various medications and topical antiperspirants administered.

For the axilla, or underarm region, physicians may even use botox.  Botox is basically a toxin that was first used by dermatologists to eliminate wrinkles on the forehead.  It was later discovered that it could ease the amount of sweating by physically blocking the nerve impulses in the affected area.  They first test which areas on the patient’s body sweat the most by using talcum powder.  Once the sweat becomes visible, the physician then cleans the area and applies a local anesthetic to numb the area.  After this, the botox is then administered and the effects of the procedure eliminates the prevalence of excessive sweating significantly.

These various procedures have been proven effective and efficient to ease the seriousness of excessive sweating.  If you have any questions or feel you may have a problem with sweating contact Neiman Dermatology & Hair Transplantation today!
