Winter Skin Care

With the cold weather upon us, many are preparing for the frigid temperatures ahead.  The cold air, wind, and indoor heat can all leave your skin feeling quite dry and irritated.  Due to these contributors you shouldn’t just change how you dress, you should also change how you treat your skin.  Here are some tips on how to take care of your skin during the winter…
·       Limit your time in the shower
·       Bathe in warm water rather than hot (hot water can actually strip your skin of moisture)
·       Use a body wash instead of bar soap (bar soap can often be harsh on skin)
·       After showering or bathing pat yourself dry, don't rub
·       Apply a moisturizer when your skin is still moist (Here at Neiman Dermatology we recommend CeraVe or Cetaphil®)
·       Apply sunscreen to exposed areas of skin because even if it's not sunny out, harmful UVA rays are still prevalent.
·       Drink lots of water and other fluids because the cold weather can take away necessary moisture to the skin.
Remember these tips and your skin should be safe this winter season!
